We have grown so much over the past 3 years, let us share our journey with you. Starting this company has been such a rewarding experience, we have been in 4 major malls, have three locations at Gillette Stadium for all the games, and have two successful internet sites. So lets back us a bit and answer the following questions for you. How did we start? What makes us different? Why do you move so much? Read on.

How did we start? We wanted to offer shirts that were designed by graphic artists from across the country. It started in late 2009 with the idea of making unique shirts for the public and we set up our first store at The Pheasant Lane Mall. However we quickly found out that the public liked the shirts but they didn't sell enough to support a store at the mall. One day a customer asked us to make a "custom shirt" that he has wanted for some time, so we added the service of making custom shirts. Over the next few months we became known as Coex "custom shirts" and started selling what the people wanted (anything they could imagine).

So what makes us different? I know your thinking that there are companies that make custom shirts out there, so what makes us special. There are a couple of things that we do differently, from the equipment we use to how we design with our customers. You can walk into one of our stores and have one of our designers turn your idea into a graphic and then make your garment while you wait. To top it off you are getting a production quality shirt, its not a press on, its not a screen print, it is a new technology that dyes your graphic right into the shirt! More recently we have made it even easier to make shirts with us. In January 2012 we introduced www.coexcustomshirts.com which allows our customers to design from the comfort of there house. They can then pick up the shirts at one of our stores or have it delivered, awesome!

Why do you move so much? Since 2009 we have moved a total of 6 times. We have been at The Pheasant Lane Mall, The Mall at Rockingham Park, The Burlington Mall, and The Mall of NH. Currently we have two retail locations, one at the Mall of NH (where we print) and another at The Pheasant Lane Mall (two day turn around). We move because we have to, the tough part about being in a mall is the high price of the rents. With that said we move around to get the biggest bang for our buck, new malls = exposure to new customers. We always joke that we should make a Coex Custom Shirts tour shirt with all of our locations on the back for our loyal customers.

2011-2012 Patriots Selling Season

It is always fun to be down at the games selling our shirts to the hundreds of thousands of fans that we see. We distribute out of the three tents that are in all the major locations of the stadium parking lots. Our main location which is located directly across from the stadium was shared with Monster Energy drinks. It was pretty cool to be next to a major company like that especially because they gave out free drinks!

That location was covered for the majority of the season by our one and only Donna (she was a rockstar down there). You know that she is loved when you see fans hugging her and recognizing her as the lady from the stadium when they walk into one of our stores. The other two locations were covered by Scott, Gianna, Henry, Kaylyn, Nick, Eric, and or myself.

This year we sold our Sons of Belichick, City of Champions, Gronk "I Pick Things Up and Put Them Down", New Englands Finest, and a mix of our other popular designs. It was cool to here people say how much they loved our designs and it was even better on the games when we would completly sell out. Introducing Coex's Online Design Studio

We are proud to introduce our new online Design Studio that we just launched this December.

Knowing that we needed an online design solution we looked for a good six months to find the perfect one. After a long search and many of trials later we had found our program. It was much better than the rest of the solutions we tried out. Even with its ease of use, the tutorial videos for our customers is a nice resource to learn how to upload your images.

Coex Custom Shirts at The Burlington Mall

Being a newer company we try to get exposed to as many customers as we can. That is why we have been in the Pheasant Lane Mall, The Mall at Rockingham Park, Gillette Stadium, and now The Burlington Mall. The Burlington Mall for those of you who have not been, has a more upscale feel and a larger customer base than the other malls that we have been at. There is The Rainforest Cafe, The Cheescake Factory, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, and now Coex Custom Shirts. Not only are we at a premium mall for the holiday season but we also occupy one of their largest stores!

Now, it has been a bit tricky to fill up this monster of a store with stock but it is looking great. We now have enough room to split up the mens and womans sections. We also started to stock womans polos, more premium shirt colors, more tie dye options, and more sizes across all of our apparel. So if you want to see us for the holidays this year you better make it fast. Last year we had a five hour wait for printing and I am sure this year will be no different.

At Gillette Stadium: Country Fest

It was a "New England" weather extravaganza at the Country Fest this year. Rain, wind, and a hurricane warning all while we are selling shirts at the stadium. It was a good time though, great music and some pretty cool fans were enough to get our minds off of the weather and focus on selling shirts. For the concert we introduced a new disign for ladies that was a big hit, "I Love Country Boys". We also had our popular "Guns Don't Kill People Dads With Pretty Daughters Do" and a guys country design (not a good seller). The guns shirt was our best seller for the weekend.

I know what your thinking..... Selling shirts during a huricane...good thinking! But it really wasn't as bad as we thought, we did shut down two of our three locations for the last show.

Rain, wind, more rain, more wind, and then a break in the weather for about 30 min and I knew I needed to take some pictures of our tent. Keep in mind that this is during the "Hurricane" so I think that we look awesome!

But, it may not be forever. In fact, I am on my way to college. I'm excited and nervous - pretty much like any other kid, I would think.

Before I go, I just wanted to thank all of the dedicated customers and staff whom I have been privileged to work with over the past year. Although new opportunities have come my way in media (what will be one day my true profession- I hope!), the folks at COEX have always treated me like a member of the family.

A special thank you goes to Doug, for everything that he has taught me as both a boss and a friend. From printing shirts to how to live life, he's always got good advice. (He'll tell you otherwise, but it's true - go talk to him for yourself).

Donna, I will miss you as well - your quirky ways of getting customers in the door always worked and proved success for us! I will admit I was a little nervous the first time I worked with you when I saw your "louder" approach to customers - but it worked and gained trust in many, many people; and I am forever impressed! =]

Pinball Wizard Shirts

Another busy week of slaving away at Coex. In addition to our regular stream of customers, we've also been making several hundred shirts for the Pinball Wizard Arcade. There are two sets of shirts: a regular set and a batch for the upcoming pinball tournament. Go play some video games in a custom shirt!

Happy Independence Day! To celebrate the holiday, we're offering a sale at Coex Custom Shirts - half off custom white shirts and shirts with preprinted designs. If you're too busy chowing down on hot dogs or watching fireworks blow up and miss the sale, remember that our preprinted shirt designs are always "buy one, get one half off."

We have all sorts of shirts in full American spirit. You can sport patriotic clothing even if you're from another country.

There are no concrete plans as of yet, but don't be surprised if we have more sales on future holidays.

Coex Events

We've been very busy here at the store - receiving and producing orders of around 50 shirts every day this week. Printing 600 of our I Love Taylor shirts on a deadline made last week even more stressful.

Why make 600 shirts in one week? To stand outside in the rain and hawk them to throngs of devoted fans, of course. Don't be surprised to see a couple of Coex tents at local events, such as Patriots' games. We usually have some samples of our most popular shirts, as well as those related to the event itself.

While we've only showed up at the concert and football games so far, we have plans to expand our out-of-store appearances. If we're at the event, we'll have themed shirts to sell.

Plus, we have glowstick bracelets.

How Making A Shirt Is Easy

The staff at COEX knows you're busy. A large number of our customers always ask "When will my shirt be ready? I need it tonight!" And while most days we're able to service you immediately, there are those rare times when issues come up - such as a printer glitch or a large number of orders ahead of you (which usually happens during some holidays).

In order to allow you to wait as little as possible, we have done a lot over the years to make that happen. We have added staff to assist you quickly, purchased more computers to design more shirts at a time, increased our inventory to much more than t-shirts, including sweatshirts, tie-dye, long-sleeve, polo's, sweatpants and onesies (how do you spell that again?). I mean, we even moved locations three times in just a few months. Yeah, it's true - we are about the customer!

Heck, we even have nearly thirty pre-made shirts ready for purchase that resemble "your true feelings and emotions," whether it be in sports, dance, Justin Bieber.....and we even got something for that next Friday night beerfest.

We have also now made use of an online program that allows us to make your design with you remotely. This means that all you have to do is call us, make an internet connection, tell us what you want, and then you sit back, relax, and watch one of our A+ designers make your shirt - all from the comfort of your own home. Pay with credit over the phone, and boom - your shirt(s) will be ready when you come into the store.

Basically, all the time it took you to read this - we could've already made your shirt. So, what are you waiting for?!

Sport Shirts

In the spirit of the Stanley Cup finals, I'd like to post a quick note about our sport shirt designs. Support a local business by showing off your love for a local team - whether it's the Red Sox, Patriots, or Celtics.

We have plenty of premade designs for those just getting on the bandwagon, or can create any sort of custom image for the diehard fans. Let's hope the gloves come off and we see some Canuck blood!

Quantity Discounts

Oh man. Today was pretty busy for a Tuesday - made all the worse by the fact I was here by myself. This means, of course, that there were a lot of sales today, which is good for the store. My job description says that this is supposed to make me very happy.

As exciting as my day was, making all of those shirts brought to mind our policy on bulk orders. Savings start at orders of 5 to 10 shirts. A regular white shirt is priced at $18 instead of the usual $20. Subsequent discounts are applied to orders of 10 to 25, 25 to 50, 50 to 100, 100 to 200, 200 to 500, and 500 and up. The amount saved per shirt varies depending upon the product, but each level of savings is around $2 per shirt.

With deals like these, how can you not come to Coex for mass-produced custom apparel? We've done orders of every category listed above for events ranging from charity walks to high school graduations. Remember, we can print any original content on any number of shirts, so everyone at your family reunion can look almost as good as you do.

New Premade Designs

We have a few new premade shirt designs hanging in the store. Premade shirts are the shirts you see hanging on the walls of the store. If you purchase them at the store, the first one is $15 and the second is half off, so only $22.50 for two! Our online sale prices will cost you around the same with shipping.

Anyway, most of the "new" premade shirts on display are simply old Coex shirts that we're showing off again, such as the classic UMass Beer Pong design and an old favorite, the Cereal Killer. One of the truly new premade shirts is the Optimist Prime/Negatron shirt, a shirt that has a simple reminder to stay positive in Transformerian fashion.

What We Do

Welcome to the Coex Custom Shirts blog! My name is Nick, and I'm a Coex employee. I've been working here on a seasonal basis since last summer. I'm going to update this blog every week or so.

For this first post, I'm going to address a common issue I've noticed while working here. Most people are confused about what we do, and how our store actually works. Coex Custom Shirts is a store that does just that - produce unique apparel. With a few exceptions, we can put any computer image onto a flat cotton surface. This includes pictures, images, or text - the only restriction being anything protected under copyright.

Short version: we can't print a shirt that says "Boston Red Sox," but we can print a shirt that says "I Love Boston" in a similar font style and color, along with any other design customizations.

It's also worth noting that the average one-sided shirt can be made in under 20 minutes. We can print almost any image onto any flat cotton surface. The ink will not wash out, just like any retail-quality shirt.

Live Music at Coex Custom Shirts?

Matt Jackson

When we made the move to from the Pheasant Lane Mall to The Mall at Rockingham Park we needed to throw a grand opening. We didn't want just any run of the mill grand opeing so we asked our friends at Frank FM to run a nice add campaign for us. They ran our add on the radio for two weeks and our grand opening had a great turnout! We gave out 100 free shirts and had live music! It was a great time for everyone who attended the event. We were lucky to have Matt Jackson play an awesome mix of cover songs and original lyrics.

We enjoyed Matt so much that we have invitded Matt to come back and play for us anytime he wants. Nothing like making your new favorite shirt while listening to live music. The only thing missing is a bar full of beer and coffee! Maybe in the future, till then we will wait in anticipation for Matt to return yet again!

What Makes Coex Custom Shirts Better?

When I started this company it was based on one single concept. We will provide the best custom shirts using the newest technology available. Since then I purchased the best equipment, computers, and graphics that I could find. The equipment we use allows us to print anything we want, yes anything. No more color limitations and the system can even print images up to 1440x1440 dpi (really detailed). The quality is amazing! We actually dye the shirts with our inks, so no more peeling off in the wash, this is production quality! Try going to your local screen printer and have them print a picture for you without using a press on.

As far as computers we purchased three quad core windows systems that can run any graphic program with ease. We prefer to use Corel Draw for its powerful and quick image editing capabilities. Yes, to all the graphic artists out there, we don't use Adobe at the store (I will post a new article soon telling you why Corel is better than Adobe for what we do). In addition to our Corel software we have spent around $10,000 on graphics and fonts, giving our customers more options than they really need. We also use sets of graphics and fonts called "templates" that we can edit in a flash.

Resulting in fast custom shirts with anything you want on them. How fast? We can print in about 5min once the artwork is complete. So if you want something simple it will only take us 10min from start to finish! The pricing is the best part, $20 for a white shirt, $25 for a colored shirt, and we carry more than just shirts! 2011 Gillette Stadium

This year we will have three tents at Gillette Stadium selling some of our custom shirts. We will be located near the old WEEI tent, right next to the tunnel that goes under the highway, and at Rodman Ford. This will expose us to 40 thousand fans a game! Last year we had two tents for the playoffs or lack of playoffs...... Stupied Jets. We are hoping to meet with Gronkowski soon, hopefully he will let us use his name on a couple of designs.
